So, what exactly do you do?
I can’t even tell you the number of times I’ve heard this question over the last 10(ish) years I’ve been working in the field of marketing.

Anyone else in marketing get this question ALL THE TIME? In the past I’ve often opted for the quick and easy response. Something like, “I do advertisements for the business” or “I look after the website.” People would generally find answers like that good enough and not need any more information.
Since starting Create Marketing, I’ve struggled with how to respond to the frequent question, what exactly do you do? I don’t want to give the quick and easy response but also don’t want to drag on my elevator pitch for longer than the ride.
So, what is it I do?
According to The Balance Small Business, when a person tells you that they work in marketing, there could be hundreds of different types of jobs they may be talking about. Marketing jobs are numerous and vary based on the company, structure, and type of position.
At Create Marketing, the main aspect of our business is building and executing plans to help your business with awareness, acquisition of new customers or clients and achieve marketing goals.
There are so many different ways this can be done, it really depends on the business, target audience, goals, budget and time-frame. Each plan is different and requires a different set of tactics.
A few examples would be:
Content Creation
Search Engine Marketing
Digital Advertisements (Social media, websites, Google, etc)
Print Advertisements (Newspaper, magazines, journals, etc)
Collaborations
Events and Workshops
Google Business Listings
Email marketing
Or even as simple as sending Thank You cards to current clients.
Hiring someone (either internally or externally) to help with your marketing comes down to wanting to promoting your business, driving awareness and sales of your products or services.
